Description
Non-contact pickup sensor switch to detect the presence of liquid, etc.
Penetrates low-density materials such as plastic and wood to detect presence/absence inside.
Can be used as a non-contact switch for liquids, solids, and human bodies.
Outputs a signal upon detection (equivalent to a power supply voltage, 500mA max.)
Directly drives SSRs or relays to turn on/off motors, pumps, solenoids, etc.
Warning lights and buzzers can also be operated directly as long as the voltage and current are within specifications.
Types
LDS-L1H, Normally 0V and turns ON when detected.
LDS-L1L, Normally ON and reverses output to 0V when detected.
purpose of use
- Detection of residual volume in washer tanks and water injection tanks
- Detection of liquid level in plastic tanks such as polyethylene tanks and FRP tanks
- Detection of liquid in pipes such as PVC pipes and vinyl pipes
- Detection of metal and wood behind plasterboard.
- Water storage tanks, rainwater tanks. Detection of water storage tanks, rainwater tanks, brewing tanks, rain gutters, etc.
- As a non-contact switch by the human body
Product Features
- Checking the level of liquid in a plastic tank that cannot be seen inside
- Non-contact detection of liquid, human body, metal, wood, resin, etc.
- Multi-turn trimmer (volume control) to adjust to distance and material
- Detectable distance from 0 mm to about 50 mm (single material for long-distance)
- Detectable distance varies with material (mainly density) and size.
Description
This is a sensor with a built-in 0.5A amplifier that can detect the presence or absence of solids or liquids without contact and can directly drive mechanical relays, SSRs (electronic relays), and alarm lamps.
It reacts not only to liquids but also to substances whose density is higher than a set standard.
It reacts to liquids, “human hands” and “personal belongings” (such as smartphones, umbrellas, bags, etc.) at a distance of about 5 cm.
Reacts to dense substances on the back of the device, passing through substances with low density. (Adjustable)
Penetrates glass, plastic, plasterboard, etc., and detects liquids and solids on the back.
It can be used as a sensor to turn on/off lamps, electrical appliances, etc. without touching them.
It avoids the “unspecified contact” that can occur through a switch.
Momentary type sensor, where the output turns ON only during detection (or undetected).
The output voltage is approximately the supply voltage output, allowing operation by the system operating voltage.
The output current of up to 500mA can be used to direct sound alarm lamps and buzzers.
The presence or absence of liquid inside the tank or in the pipe can be detected from outside the tank without contact.
It can be used not only for liquids but also for various other substances such as resin, the human body, metal, wood, stone, and paper.
It detects by using the sensor sensitivity that changes depending on the density, size, and distance of the object.
The threshold for display on/off is set by the multi-turn trimmer (volume).
Detection by material
Resin < Liquid < Metal
Detects liquids and metals on the backside of resin according to the difference in detectability by the material.
The human body is almost the same as the liquid.
(It is difficult to detect in the reverse order. (Detection in reverse order is difficult. For example, liquid in a metal tank cannot be detected.
Sensor detection mechanism
Depending on the material of the target, the response is about metal (10), liquid (7), and resin (3). (Values are examples only.)
Depending on the size, thickness, and specific gravity of the object, the detection response may increase or decrease.
Even for liquids, oil has a lower reaction level than water.
If the material is the same, the larger the object, the greater the reaction.
As the distance from the sensor increases, the response decreases.
The “threshold” of detection is adjusted by the multi-turn trimmer (volume).
When the threshold is exceeded, the sensor’s LED will light up.
Examples of detection
Example 1: If the threshold (adjustable position of the multi-turn trimmer) is set to (8), a plastic pipe (3) alone will not be detected, but if there is liquid inside, (3) + (7) = (10), the threshold will be exceeded and detection will occur.
Example 2: If the sensor is set on the back of the plasterboard, it will detect the plasterboard (5) + human body (6), and when the hand is held in front of the sensor, it will detect it.
If the sensor is placed behind the plasterboard, it will detect the plasterboard (5) + human body (6).

Caution
Since the sensor does not penetrate metal, it cannot detect the amount of water in a metal tank.
Even if the current consumption is 500mA or less, it cannot be used for loads with large inrush current such as motors and solenoids.
The LED on the sensor itself will light up when it detects even if it is an inverted output type. The output signal is inverted and output.
When using this product with relays, etc., be careful not to apply a voltage exceeding the power supply voltage to the output wiring. When using a relay, etc., use one with a protection circuit that does not generate back EMF.
